About Us

Horizon Central CityWay

is a church with a to Christ – in Christ – for Christ vision for each individual member, which is

  • Leading others to Christ, as we see in John 1:40-42

  • Growing in Christ, as we see in 2 Peter 3:18

  • Being sent for Christ, as we see in Acts 1:8

Bible Teaching

We like to go through the Bible.

On Sunday mornings you will almost always find us going through a book of the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse. We are currently going through the New Testament, a project that will take about five years from start to finish.

Our Kids

We highly value kids.  On Sundays we are in the process of returning to Sunday school for all ages after shutting things down during the COVID quarantines and lockdowns. Step by step we plan to get back to normal.

Affiliation

We are part of a larger network of churches collectively known as the Calvary Chapel Association.  Though not all the churches in this group use the name Calvary Chapel in their own title, as we obviously don’t, the connection with CCA provides a framework for fellowship and accountability among churches and especially among pastors.

Pastor Dave, here at Central, as well as Bill Goodrich at Horizon Indy, were both at one time a part of Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego – Pastor Mike MacIntosh.  Mike Mac, in turn, started out on staff at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa.  All of these relationships remain important ones to us and we share a lot in common regarding our outlook or philosophy of ministry.

How We Started

Horizon Central is a spinoff of Horizon Indianapolis on the northeast side of Indy – Pastor Bill Goodrich.  Before we relocated to the Irsay Y we spent over 20 years at old School 18. A fun little story about how that happened is posted on Dave’s blog.

Our Mission

Leading others to Christ, as we see in John 1:40-42

One … who … followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus.”

Growing in Christ so that our lives bear much fruit, as expressed in 2 Peter 3:18

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Being sent for Christ as the Holy Spirit empowers us, according to Acts 1:8

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
