Horizon Christian Fellowship Central is a church with a to Christ – in Christ – for Christ vision for each individual member. We’re located in Old School #18 in the vicinity of Fountain Square – an urban Indianapolis environment.
Bible Teaching: We like to simply go through the Bible. On Sunday mornings we’re on a roughly chapter-by-chapter journey from Genesis to Revelation that currently has us in the Old Testament. Visit the Notes & mp3s page to see what that’s like. On Wednesday evenings we travel more rapidly in The Public Reading of Scripture.
Kids: We highly value kids. On Sundays we offer Sunday School classes during the time of teaching. Kids worship with us during the music. On Wednesdays we have AWANA going on in our gym while the adults are downstairs at The Public Reading of Scripture. Other ministries that focus heavily on children/youth ministry are KIDS Inc, the Gospel Martial Arts Union, our Homeschool Co-op (see the links to all of those off to the right) and our Horizon Preschool/Childcare.
Missions: As an Indianapolis church with an international outlook we are continually involved in a variety of outreach endeavors both locally and around the planet. See the Servant Senders links off to the right.
Affiliation: We are part of a larger network of churches collectively known as the Calvary Chapel Association – centered in Costa Mesa, California. Though not all the churches in this group use the name Calvary Chapel in their own title, as we obviously don’t, the connection with CCA provides a framework for fellowship and accountability among churches and especially among pastors.
Horizon Central is a spinoff of Horizon Indianapolis on the northeast side of Indy – Pastor Bill Goodrich. A fun little story about how that happened is posted on Dave’s blog. If you’d like to read it now, click here.
Pastors Dave, here at Central, as well as Bill G., were both at one time a part of Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego – Pastor Mike MacIntosh. Mike Mac, in turn, started out on staff at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa. All of these relationships remain important ones to us and we share a lot in common regarding our outlook or philosophy of ministry. To locate other Calvary Chapels click here.
